The story follows 16-year-old Akira Kurusu, who transfers to Shujin High School in Tokyo after being falsely accused of assault. In reality, Akira had stepped in to protect a woman from a powerful man with political connections—but the incident leads to his probation and a tarnished reputation. Upon arriving in Tokyo, Akira discovers a mysterious app that has appeared on his phone. This app grants him access to a strange alternate world born from the distorted desires and corruption of adults. Within this realm, he awakens a unique power known as a “Persona.” As he explores this hidden world, Akira is joined by fellow students Ryuuji Nakamoto and Anne Takamaki, along with a mysterious, shape-shifting cat-like creature named Morgana. Together, they form a group called the “Phantom Thieves of Hearts.” Driven by a desire to break free from oppression, they set out to steal the corrupt hearts of twisted adults—and change society from within.
